Some of my favorite things

I am participating in Sunday Favorites and Metamorphisis Monday.

Today I am sharing some picures of thrifty treasures which I have incorporated into my home, some are newer finds from over the summer and a few that I have had for a while. This red bucket found me in a little antique store in Hillsboro Oregon. It is Swedish and is called a Firkin, (storage bucket). I love the color and the little handle. the quilts on the shelf below are family heirlooms.

The metal scoop was a garage sale find, I paid a buck for it.

This metal basket also from the same garge sale, it was a bicycle basket, I took the hardware off of it that held it onto a bike. It was $4. I love it, this picture doesn't show the size too well, but it is larger than average. Right now I am using it outside to store placemats, silver and candles.

This painting was a recent Goodwill find, it's very old, the date of 1908 on the back, the painting is dark and aged and the frame is all wood. It was $2.99.

My recent Ross purchase I got 8 placesettings for $30. I love the pattern, just what I have been looking for.

This has always been a picture I have admired. It was expensive by Goodwill standard, $19.99, but in new condition and a large size. Love love love it! Below you can see it's size and the plant stand next to it also a Goodwill find from this summer. $15.

Baby girl nursery

I am participating in Pink Saturday over at Beverly's. These pictures are from a sweet baby girl's nursery. She was one of my patient's in the NICU, a very sick infant, a miracle baby really. To read more about her amazing journey go here. I recently visited her and her parents while in Denver. Her nursery is the most beautiful room for a baby girl I have ever seen. Hope you enjoy these pictures.
I gave Ella these letters for her 1st birthday. They were painted white when I sent them to her, and then her creative grandmother embelished them like this. I think they are wonderful. She used a small canvas for each and painted them to mimic the Shabby Chic bedding in the crib.

The pink and green are the perfect shades and the painting is fabulous!

Always love a window seat and this one is outfitted for a princess!

The same talented grandmother makes these fairies. I am sorry I don't remember her name just now, but she is Southern California artist and sells her fairies to high end stores like Nordstrom and such. These are amazaing. This one is about 2-3 ft tall.

This one is hanging from the light fixture in the center of the room, she is not as big as the other fairy, but just as beautiful and intricate.

How perfect is this room? I adore it! I have 2 grown boys and so I never had a princess!

The lighting is not so good in this picture, but it gives you an overview of the layout especially of the window seat.

Colorado Cabin Decor

The pictures in this post are all taken in the town of Frisco CO. We spent an afternoon visiting this charming little town just a few minutes from Copper Mtn and Vail, CO.

The shops on this street are very neat, we especially liked the western and lodge decor and antiques stores. This is a chair made from ski's. Such a cool idea.

This is a tobogan turned into shelves. I have always dreamed of living in a log cabin. I think reading the Laura Ingall's Little House series as a kid, made me wonder what living in a cabin would be like.

These are some items displayed on a shelf, mining lights and such.

This table was set with this beautiful bear pottery. The large chandelier above this lovely table was made from antlers. This furniture and the antler chandelier make me think this is something that would have been on the Ponderosa! Ha, another childhood obsession. Loved watching Bonanza as a kid.

These furs were the softest thing I have ever felt. I see why the indian's and the settlers prized their furs. I could totally wrap up in one of these on a cold snowy night.

Wouldn't these be cool in an entry way of a log cabin, somewhere in the mountains.

This chair doesn't look too comfortable.
