More Thrifty Treasures
So my treasure hunting obsession continues... I have been watching out for Tole trays, I see them at antique and sometimes thrift stores, and they are usually much more than I want to spend. I spotted this one at "A Classy Flea" in Marietta GA. On my trip up to Chattanooga I decided to stop in Marietta, outside of Atlanta, cause I had found a GW not far from 1-75 on my GPS, well the GW was not that great but in the same shopping strip there was this wonderful little treasure of a place, "A Classy Flea" what a gem of a place. This tole tray was marked down to $9.99. It is a very large size too and the colors are perfect for my home. Yay!
Also at the same place I found this painted bunny box for $9. It is a heavy wooden box with hinges on the lid, which happen to be broken, but I don't care I love the art work and the bunnies.
Also at Classy flea, this birdie candle holder. Love it! it was $9 too I think.
This is a sweet cherub I found at a Garage sale a few weeks ago, 50 cents. I don't know I have thought of painting it an off white? and distressing with a glaze, what do you think?
Ok in the same general area of the GW and Classy Flea, in Marietta, was this other thrift store, I think it is Union Missions sponsored or something like that, anyway within 2 minutes of walking in the door I found this little beauty, yes she is Southern Living, she is in new condition and I didn't care that she was $8. She flew right into my basket.
This candle pillar was an easy decision too, only $3. It is heavy and very nice, will look fantastic on the side of my soaker tub.
It is very nicely detailed.
Here all my Classy Flea finds and the red tapestry type table cover with tassels on the corners is one thing I found at the GW in Marietta, also found a hammock. I will show later when hubby gets it up for us.
Oh yes this shelf was waiting for me too at the thrift store, it was $5. I chopped off the top but it is made of iron and has a frenchy look at the top, it is hard to find shelves that don't look all countryfied. This is either going in the bathroom or near the pantry in the kitchen, hmm not sure yet.
Oh yes the white wire basket for $4 also from the thrift store. The books are from the GW in my home town, except the recipe book found it at the GW near my mom's in TN. Hardbacks are $1 and softsides are $50, although I paid $2.99 for some reason for the cookbook.
I will be joining Rhoda's party Today's Thrifty treasures later this week.
Thanks for visiting, hope you have some treasures of your own to share. Come again, Marla

ReplyDeleteHey Marla!!! You found some really nice stuff!!! I love the bunny box, tapestry, and wire basket!!! You asked about the H butter knives! Well, last weekend my husband and I went to the Biltmore house and in the little garden shop they had dragonfly garden thingys( I don't know the real name) Anyway, the wings was made out of knives. My husband is a welder so I'm going to get him to make some to put in my yard. I will post pics as soon as he make some!:) Thanks you for your sweet comments and stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to go to the Classy Flea, since Susan @ Naps has posted about it. You found some great stuff. I bet it was hard to stop at that! ReplyDeleteWow...lucky you!! and yes, I can imagine the cherub painted white and glazed! As for my lampshade, I just used the glue gun and only glued around the edges of the fabric...also used the glue gun on the trims - easy to do - good luck!

ReplyDeleteOh, a hammock sounds so good! I'd love to go flea marketing..., but I'm kind of tucked away for now in this small town, nothing like that going on here within miles and miles!
ReplyDeleteMaya @ Completely Coastal
I love your finds. I would paint and distress the little cherub. I am dangerous with a can of spray paint in hand. I also love the white wire basket, I am drawn to anything metal. Depending on how it is painted, it can be formal or shabby. Thanks for sharing and also for always having such nice comments when you stop by my place.
ReplyDeleteFantastic finds! My favorite is the shell candle pillar. I love to go thrifting and there are so many places here to go.
ReplyDelete~ Tracy
The Classy Flea is a great place to shop! I'm thinking of renting some space there.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to the Union Missions thrift but I know there are a couple of thriftstores down that road past the Big Chicken.
You got really really fabulous stuff! Love the tray!!
Manuela
Hi Marla, what a bunch of goodies! Love that tole tray! We used to live in Marietta many years ago. A really wonderful place!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Debra
Good morning! I've been up early dealing with a leaky washer from last night. Grrr....what a mess and just when I thought there was no more water.
ReplyDeleteNeesha is a Husky/Collie mix and she's just the sweetest little girl. We got her from a rescue farm when she was about 4 and we've had her for 3 1/2 years. She jumped in our car and said pick me, pick me and it was love ever since. She has health issues, no joint in one of her back legs, just lots of scar tissue - vet thinks she was caught in a trap. Leaky bladder controlled by meds. Her sweet personality is why everyone falls in love with her. She greets everyone at the door with a Bo-Bo (stuffed toy) in mouth. She's our own little welcome wagon. Travels better than our girls and loves to run errands and hang out in the back of the car (it's cold enough most of the year here for that to be very safe).
You'll love being a new doggie mama. :)
